There’s no better feeling than stepping out of the shower and into the inviting arms of a warm, fluffy towel. So, to give your guests the best experience (and maybe influence you to buy new towels for your own home) we’re going to go over everything you need to know about towels for your Airbnb property.

How many towels should I provide my guests?

The answer to this question is all dependent on how long your guest is staying, but a good rule of thumb to keep your guests warm and dry is to include two regular towels, a hand towel and a washcloth per every two days, for each guest. Try to avoid leaving a cupboard full of towels for guests to use, because in these situations people may take advantage and use 1 towel for each shower. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather avoid the extra laundry.

What type of towels should you choose for your property?

There are many things to consider when choosing towels for your property, but the tops things to consider are drying time, skin feel, stain-repellent material, and durability. It is for these reasons that we recommend cotton towels. This material is very durable, hypoallergenic, stain-resistant, and is a speedy drier. Talk about an all-rounder!

Colour

Food, lipstick, skin treatments, and fake tan are just a few of the reasons that you don’t want to go for white towels. If your house has a colour scheme, then it could be a good idea to match your towels to the house design. Otherwise, we’d recommend a dark colour, or even grey or beige.

Pool/beach towels

If your property is located near a beach or has a pool (lucky!) then it could be a good idea to provide beach towels because guests may not always bring their own. Luckily, guests don’t care as much about the quality of the towels and the colour doesn’t matter as much so you can get creative with a unique and funky towel selection. These towels should also be placed somewhere that is easy to find, such as on the beds, or should be mentioned in the house manual.

Washing towels

Detergent is not your friend when it comes to towels, so try not to add too much as it can make them stiff. Also, we would recommend washing new towels with half the detergent and half a cup of white vinegar before the first use. This is because new towels have finishes that stop absorbancy, so they look fluffy in the storefront.

Other helpful hints would to only use fabric softener every 3 washes (or less) because this reduces absorbency, and wash dark and light colours separately to avoid mixing colours.

Drying towels

When it comes to drying towels, use a high-heat setting as this increases the towel’s life span by avoiding overdrying. For basic instructions on washing and drying towels, see here.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are many things to consider when it comes to buying towels, but with this handy guide and a bit of research, you’ll be able to find the perfect towels that suit your Airbnb property. Your guests are sure to love them, and the reviews will speak for themselves.
